Multi-timeframe analysis
Assign roles beforehand
One scale can describe trend, another levels and a third the trigger. This is an example rather than a requirement to trade only with the larger timeframe. Specify precedence and conflict handling. A higher interval aggregates some of the same observations, so agreement is not independent evidence from separate sources.
Time and candle boundaries
Record timezone, opening hours and aggregation rules. Feeds can divide H4 and daily bars differently. During testing, align data by actual availability, not merely a timestamp label. A higher-timeframe swing confirmed later was also unavailable at its extreme. Historical completed values must not silently replace those visible in real time.
Simplicity and disagreement
The number of intervals should follow the rule and decision requirements. Ratios of 1:4 or 1:6 are conventions, not proven optima. Falling M5 prices and a rising daily structure can coexist; this does not prove that the decline is only a temporary correction. Define rejection conditions and avoid adding scales simply to justify an already chosen trade.
