How pip value works on USD/JPY
One pip on USD/JPY is a price move of 0.01. Its cash value is not fixed – it scales with how many units of US Dollar you trade. Multiply your lot size by the contract size to get units (a standard lot is 100,000), then multiply the pip size by those units to get the pip value in the quote currency, JPY. If your account is held in JPY that figure is final; otherwise convert it at the JPY→account rate.
Worked example
Trading one standard lot of USD/JPY (100,000 units) makes a single pip worth 1,000 JPY; ten pips are 10,000 JPY. A mini lot (10,000 units) is 100 JPY per pip and a micro lot (1,000 units) is 10 JPY. For an account in another currency, multiply by the JPY→account exchange rate (the calculator does this for you).
