Prop trading

Prop Firm Challenge

A paid evaluation offered by some retail trading programmes, with targets and restrictions such as drawdown limits. Passing may lead to a contract involving simulated or live trading, not necessarily control of real capital. Check all fees, account type, payout conditions and breach rules; a profit target alone does not describe the arrangement.
Example.

A hypothetical programme requires an 8% result on USD 50,000, so the target is USD 4,000. A 5% loss limit equals USD 2,500 only if the contract bases it on initial balance. Target and limit do not determine passing probability.

All evaluation conditions

Check daily and total drawdown, equity or balance bases, daily-reset time zone, minimum days and news rules. Touching a threshold may differ from crossing it; follow the exact contract.

Costs of failed attempts

Fees, resets and subscriptions are real costs even when the trading balance is virtual. Budget all purchases, not only the last successful attempt. A fee refund requires its specified conditions.

What follows evaluation

The next stage may remain simulated with different rules. A programme certificate is not an investment-services licence. Confirm reward calculation and actual rights before purchase.

FAQ

Is reaching the target enough to pass?

Not always. Another breach or concentration condition can prevent completion.

Is an 8% target a required annual return?

No. It is a condition for the specified stage and period, not automatically an annualised return.
