Tilt

An informal label for temporary deterioration in decision process under pressure or strong outcome involvement. It can include plan breaches and escalating exposure. It is neither a diagnosis nor an automatic consequence of every loss. Define observable stopping conditions, position handling and restart criteria.
Example. After a sharp movement, a trader stops using the checklist, increases volume and ignores a limit. Records can identify behaviour inconsistent with the procedure. Stress or one losing trade alone is insufficient, and “tilt” is not a medical diagnosis.

Behavioural description

Borrowed from games, the term describes a temporary deterioration of decisions under pressure or intense outcome involvement. It can involve chasing prices, moving stops or increasing entries. Those actions can also have other causes. Observable breaches and context are more useful than asserting a specific neurological mechanism or inferring a state solely from losses.

Stopping procedure

Specify a trigger, such as a defined breach, exposure limit or operational state. A stopping procedure may block new orders, cancel pending ones or reduce positions; those actions are different. Closing a local platform does not automatically accomplish them all. Verify server-side state and execution permissions rather than assume the screen reflects eliminated exposure.

Restart conditions

A break should support restored ability to assess conditions and comply with rules, not promise a profitable mindset. Review impulse, action, exposure and outcome separately. Procedures can support control but do not guarantee that every difficulty disappears after a fixed number of minutes. Returning should follow criteria established before the episode rather than a recovery target.

FAQ

Does a kill switch always close every position?
No. Its scope must be explicitly defined and execution checked.
Does stress automatically mean tilt?
No. Assess observable deterioration in process, not the emotion alone.
