Position trading
Horizon is not a system
Position trading commonly retains exposure for weeks or months, using fundamental or technical logic. Record review timing, entries, exits and event policy. Carry can provide one motive, but not every longer-held position is a carry trade. The style name does not supply an edge or define the necessary data.
Size rather than unlimited loss tolerance
Wide distances follow a particular rule and volatility rather than a requirement for large drawdowns. At the same budget, a wider stop requires less exposure with consistent pip valuation. Market breaks and gaps can exceed the plan. A long horizon does not justify indefinitely retaining an invalidated losing position.
Costs and monitoring
Lower turnover can reduce some one-off costs relative to a target, but multi-day financing and specification changes remain relevant. Stops and margin need monitoring even without frequent new decisions. Scheduled review should distinguish changed conditions from an unplanned intervention prompted by a temporary outcome. Operational demands depend on the full process, not a universal ranking of trading styles.
