VPS (Virtual Private Server)
A terminal-side trailing rule runs on a hosted machine. If that machine stops, new adjustments stop too, while a previously confirmed server-side SL remains according to the account rules. Starting the same EA on both the VPS and home computer can instead duplicate orders.
Continuity and connectivity
A VPS can keep software operating independently of your personal computer and may improve the route to a broker. Hosting location is not a guarantee of a fixed latency or uninterrupted availability. Processor load, maintenance, connectivity, provider failures and trading-server conditions still matter.
Deployment and restart
Check operating-system compatibility, resources, credentials, permissions and automatic restart. Reconcile positions and persisted state after failure before sending new entries. Prevent two active instances from implementing the same account workflow. Confirm whether a specialised virtual-platform service supports the required programs; it is not necessarily equivalent to a general-purpose remote desktop.
Decide from the function
A slow strategy can still need continuous monitoring, data capture or terminal-side management. A fast strategy can still be unprofitable with excellent hosting. Compare running costs and tested reliability with the actual required function, rather than assume a VPS is either essential or useless for every trading style. See MetaTrader virtual-hosting documentation.
FAQ
Does VPS hosting guarantee faster or better fills?
No. It changes part of the technical path; processing, liquidity and execution rules remain.
Do all stop orders require the VPS to remain on?
No. A confirmed server-side stop differs from a terminal-side algorithm that keeps adjusting or generating instructions. Check the implementation.
